Virginia "Ginny" Reed started out her career as a traditional Project Manager, however, in 2009 she had the opportunity to be a Project Manager/Scrum Master. Not really knowing what a Scrum Master was she took the training and became certified. Then she was promptly thrown into it using those skills in at an Insurance Company utilizing very antiquated methods such as free Scrum Works and yellow post-its on the wall, and a "back-log" of work just written in excel. She loved it. The project was for an insurance company and work could be chunked up into specific areas quite easily. It was also more easily shown to the client and helped with team relationships because she worked closely with the development team in ways she hadn't as a classical Project Manager. From then on, she knew this was how she wanted to be managing projects.
Along the years since 2009, Ginny worked in Healthcare, Banking, Finance, Media as well as manufacturing in various capacities refining her Agile Skills. She has been a Scrum Master, Product Owner, Coach and an Agile Project Manager. She has been part of established Agile environments, Agile Transformations, and a hybrid between both a waterfall and Agile. She is experienced in using JIRA, Rally, Confluence, Slack and Version One. However, looking back to the early days of Agile using the old tools versus the really cool tools makes her realize how far Agile has really come.
