11 point Attributes of a strong board of directors for the Scrum Alliance Board of Directors Nomination
1. Audacity: The audacity to set goals that are outright jaw dropping and awe invoking, is a great characteristic for a strong Board.
2. Collectivity and coherence that represent a unanimous position via deliberations of diverse standpoints is a characteristic of a strong board of directors
3. Diversity and inclusion is a characteristic for a strong board of directors
4. Understanding the environment that an organization operates in (including clients, world stage, competition), is a characteristic of a strong board of directors
5. Analytical ability to pinpoint what's strategic and what's a 'weed' makes for a strong Board
6. A mindset of moral accountability is a characteristic for a strong board
7. Ability of balancing between delegation and direct involvement is a characteristic of board of directors
8. Being comfortable with public outreach in today's world makes for a strong board of directors
9. Altruism and a tendency to do greater good deepens an organization's purpose and hence deepens the motivation, adherence and performance to goals. Hence, altruism is an important characteristic for a strong Board of Directors.
10. Setting and driving towards and assisting with meeting financial goals can make for a strong board of directors. Many boards do this via products, donation drives, influence etc depending on the culture of the board
11. Being able to constantly challenge one self makes for a strong Board of Directors.
Ruchika's Bio
Ruchika is a coach in her being, an agile coach by profession and her life purpose statement reads: "I am a powerful 'tsaheylu', a neural connection, to you, that empowers and illuminates the path to your goals.
Ruchika directly works with the c suite in global organizations to understand change and deeply engage in responsibilites associated at the board and top leadership level. Ruchika feels that it is important for leaders to be comfortable with setting visionary goals for their organization and at the same time keep the cause of the impacted community at heart.
Ruchika organized the first ever virtual agile games conference with a huge positive impact for the audience and community.
In her career graph, Ruchika carries deep experience in helping organizations absorb change with minimal impact and producing high quality outcomes. Ruchika is also a mentor and leads a team of agile coaches at a financial services organization. She has assisted clients in a variety of domains like food and beverage, health plans, government sector, pharmaceutical industry and IT infrastructure companies.
Apart from work, Ruchika enjoys spending time with her family and especially visiting national parks. She loves playing fun games and re-discovering the essessence of life with her toddler son. Ruchika cares about social causes of diversity and inclusion from a perspective of color and gender.
