Title: Agile Coach

Hi all! My name is Ian Merwin and I recently joined Rally as an Agile Coach from Bozeman, Montana. Prior to Rally I had the honor of transforming Workiva (formerly Webfilings) from waterfall to agile as a Scrum Master, Team Coach and Delivery Manager.  Workiva is a lesser known company that in ~5 years has gained the trust of over 60% of Fortune 500 companies for filing with the SEC. Prior to that I was an application engineer for another Bozeman startup (RightNow Technologies) which was purchased by Oracle for ~1.5B and the place where I first learned of this thing called ‘Scrum’.

Additional experience I bring to Rally comes from my entrepreneurial side: In 2008 my passion for mentoring and being mentored lead me to start a non-profit network, Montana Programmers, Inc., which recently reached over 1000 members; In 2012 I co-founded Big Sky Dev Con (an annual, state-wide, technology conference for Montana); and way back…  I owned a digital publishing company that grew into commercial printing for ~10 years.

When I’m not coaching teams -- I’m chilling out with my family: Darlene, my beautiful bride of 26 years (a blind date that turned out well), and my children Lindsey, Myles, Levi, and Micah. I still enjoy coding in my spare time (haha) -- current flavors are Python and React.js running on the Google Stack.
