SHASHA JUMBE

N. L’ntshotsholé “Shasha” Jumbe has developed and applied data science problem solving techniques in infectious diseases, autoimmune diseases, oncology, and is now focused on the maternal and child health global challenge. He recently developed the NLME growth deceleration model (a semi-mechanistic characterization of child growth) and is leading the healthy birth growth and development knowledge integration (HBGDki) big data effort at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He fortuitously stumpled upon lean and agile methodology while working on increasing efficiency in closing the data science and basic research science divide. He would welcome help in developing a fit-for-purpose scrum model for data science work for distributed teams where teams are developing products that product owners do not know they need and the business model does not facilitate the required change management and engagement incentives
