I first learned Agile while on an expat assignment in Bangkok, Thailand. I learned the lessons first hand on how difficult distributed agile is. Although this is not an ideal setup, some of the best teams in my career have been distributed across the globe. From there I moved into consulting and helped Fortune 100 companies in various stages of their agile transformations. One of my most successful endeavors lead to a savings of over $1 million a year for the company on only 3 weeks of training. This was mainly due to simply visualizing the work and letting the team decide on how to best complete the work.
