Shashwat Tiwari

My Name is Shashwat Tiwari and I started my Scrum journey from early 2014, when my project was transitioning into Scrum. Mine was a  Marketing site for a US Telecom Company and they wanted to keep the content updated always in tune with the End Users taste and trends.

From Jan 2014, I started as a Team Member and for the next 6 months it was all about learning and understanding Scrum. In that duration, I learnt how different roles fit into Scrum and what were my responsibitlies as a Team Member. I understood that the team as a whole is responsible for getting the job done, we need to help each other and at times work on different things to meet the agreed release date. I understood that Communication was the key in all this and we all need to work as a Unit to achieve the results.

From June 2014 till May 2016, I played the role of Product Owner in the same project. It wasn't easy to start with but I knew that communication was the key. To start, we had a sprint of a week as the Stake Holders wanted to make sure that our site was always ahead of our competitors and then moved on to a 15 day sprint.

This role had a very positive affect on me, as I grew in the role I was able to communicate freely to the Stakeholder's and to the Dev team as well. With time I was able to manage the User Stories in a better way in accordance with the ROI and keeping in mind the commitments done by the Dev Team. 

From June 2016 till now I have been working again as a Team Member on a different project. Working with this new group made me realize that we need to work more on  collaboration within ourselves. With regular one to one communication we are able to delivery on user stories much easily then sending emails on issues etc.

I understood what are my role boundaries and still trying to learn new things everyday and helping the team to grow..
