Title: Software Engineer/Developer/Architect

Charles brings about 20 years of experience in software development ranging from industry to higher education.  In industry, he is currently a member of technical staff with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) where is an Applications Architect. In this role he develops prototype applications for public safety, procures and develops APIs for developers, facilitates a public safety developer community, and manages the application needs of public safety entities around the country. Previously, he was in higher education as a professor and program director where he taught courses in and managed a program that awarded degrees and certificates in computer programming. Before this, his industry experience was as a member of the scientific staff for Bell Northern Research (BNR), where he was a developer on the telecommunications switching and access systems.He has also served as a research scientist and team leader for NSF and DARPA funded projects to build compilers and emulators for high-performance parallel and reconfigurable embedded systems. Charles has also has experience with mobile application development and has published applications on the iOS and Android platforms as well as developed client-server systems with mobile application and mobile web clients. In addition, over the course of his career he has developed APIs for higher education in computer graphics, game physics, operating systems, and networking simulations.

Charles did his graduate work in computer science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and his undergraduate work in computer science at Prairie View A&M University. He will be based in Conyers, GA (Suburb of Atlanta, GA).

In his free time, Charles enjoys his family, running/basketball, attending hackathons, and traveling. He is also a certified professional DJ.
