James McDonagh
People come to Agile for different reasons. What drives me is in keeping with the Scrum Alliance’s own objective to ‘Transform the world of work’. There are too many unhappy and unengaged people working on projects that fail to deliver any value to their customers. Anyone who has seen Scrum or Agile work knows that it doesn’t have to be this way.
I have successfully managed projects in large and small organisations using traditional methods. When a friend and colleague mentioned ‘Agile’ to me in 2012, paired coding was all I knew about it. The more I read, the more sense it made, and when we applied it, I saw the facts for myself. The evidence-based approach of these frameworks speaks volumes to someone who read law at university.
I offer significant experience in private and public sector organisations, with a good technical grounding and a commitment to ongoing development – both of myself, and of the organisation for whom I work.
Above all, I am passionate about Agile and Scrum, and work hard to exhibit their outstanding value.
Like any good Scrum Master, I actively try to make myself redundant.
One day, people like me will be unnecessary. Until then, let’s make work better, not harder.
