Jon Dearborn

Jon Dearborn has over 30 years of experience in a variety of arenas including corporate, academic, government, startup cultures and small business. A blended professional skill-set focuses on an eclectic career track with his primary concentration being training and staff development. This focus is complimented with career roles in instructional design, e-learning, documentation, project management, needs analysis, informational technology, web development and UX design.

Jon’s career began in Outdoor Education, and is a graduate of Plymouth State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Experiential Education. Course credits included a semester program in the National Outdoor Leadership School.

Although he found a career in outdoor pursuits enriching, after several years Jon was intrigued with modifying his career track from wilderness education to a technology focus. A passion for computer software led him to becoming a computer applications instructor and consultant. He worked for several organizations including Gateway Computer and New Horizons Learning Center.

Eventually computer training led him to academia, where he taught classes in Adobe and Microsoft software; first as an adjunct teacher, then migrating to full time faculty at McIntosh College, in Dover NH. His duties expanded from graphic and web design to teaching undergraduate IT classes, specifically in Systems Analysis and Project Management.  After five years in academia, the college disbanded and Jon left the academic environment.

Since then he has worked for several organizations, ranging from small business to a publically traded Fortune 500 corporation.  Currently Jon works for the the Comptroller of the Commonwealth of Massachussetts where he manages various web, communicationsm and graphic based projects as the web analyst and Adobe software expert. His career interests include educational system design via web implementation, multimedia, training, e-Learning, instructional design and Agile methodology. 

In private moments, Jon will grudgingly concede that he doesn't look like Indiana Jones. Please don't hold that against him.
