Certified CBAP, PMP, ScrumMaster, Scrum Product Owner, and Scrum Developer (plus trained and was certified as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt) with extensive experience turning research and characterization of a wide variety of processes into requirements, data, systems, simulations, and recommendations for many types of improvements and training. Completed process analysis, modeling, simulation, control system, software, and business process re-engineering projects at over 80 private and government facilities worldwide.
With respect to scrum processes I have informally served in every role in many of my positions over the years, especially those that specifically involved software development. I have served as Product Owner in situations where I was the chief architect and customer interface of control system software, and also in numerous situations where I served as Project Manager. I have served as developer on larger team development projects and as a team member/business analyst in many development and analysis efforts more recently. I have served as mentor and trainer for developer and engineers in some positions, which roughly corresponds to the position of ScrumMaster.
Many of these efforts occurred well before the most recent ten years, which have been mostly devoted to analysis, and many of the development efforts tended to operate in more of a Waterfall and occasionally Kanban fashion. Iterations were not conscious within projects but there was a great deal of feedback, review, analysis, and improvement across projects over time. These experiences gave me a very strong background for the roles I've played within the most recent ten years in a shop that operates in a more-consciously Agile fashion, even if they applied formal Scrum techniques on only a limited-but-increasing basis. Most of the time I have served as a business analyst and team member, creating user stories and requirements, developing algorithms and formulas, performing test and formal IV&V functions, and providing analyses to the customers for whom we created and maintained complex, customized simulation and analytical software. We always conducted development efforts (complete with planning, reviews, retrospectives, and incorporated improvement) in measured bursts in response to new and changing contract requirements and analytical priorities. Recently we adopted more consciously formal Scrum methods under the guidance of a consultant qualified as a CSM/CSPO/CSP, and I explicitly served as a Product Owner on one project for which I was the main customer interface identifying and driving requirements.
