Gez Smith
About
Gez Smith has been working in agile and scrum for 15 years, variously as a developer, product owner, scrum master and coach. He sold and product owned the first agile / scrum development project ever run by the UK Government’s COI, the forerunner of what became GOV.UK, and has worked in agile and scrum for organisations including 10 Downing Street, the BBC Trust, Lloyds Banking Group and Glastonbury Festivals.
In early 2016 he graduated with a distinction from an MSc in Strategy, Change and Leadership at Bristol University, during which he specialised in agile research, with a final thesis entitled ‘Using Agile Approaches To Deliver Marketing Communications - An Exploratory Study’. He also published his second book, entitled ‘Agile Marketing: The Incomplete Guide’, which can be downloaded for free from www.bunnypicnic.co.uk/book.
Currently Global Head of Agile at HSBC, he enjoys speaking at conferences, events and scrum user group meetups across the world, as well as introducing agile beyond the field of IT. He also runs the podcast www.whyagiletransformationsfail.com, asking as many people as possible how we can avoid agile transformations failing.
He also loves hearing from fellow agile practitioners and thinkers. Do email him to say hello :-)
