About
Since graduating from Michigan State University, home of the Spartans, I have been privileged to work with Capital One, Deloitte, CarMax, and ChemTreat. Each position I've held gave me the opportunity to learn about a different speciality in accounting. I have lead system upgrades, prepared corporate taxes, sales taxes, a plethora of analyses, managed a Credit & Collections team, and consulted with some of the largest companies in the world. In each role I excelled and enjoyed working on accounting projects relating to information systems. This drove me to purse a master's degree in Accounting Information Systems at Michigan State and obtain a CPA and a CITP (Certified Information Technology Professional from the AICPA). Currently I serve as the Product Owner at Capital One for ReconPlus (also known as Frontier by Fiserv), their reconciliation software. This is one of Capital One's largest internal financial software packages, having more than 120 interfaces, used to reconcile over 10,000 GL accounts, with more than 2,000 internal users.
In addition to my accounting experience, I served eight years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. I had the opportunity to perform several roles during my enlistment including serving as a tactical coxswain attached to Port Security Unit 305, a deployable specialized forces unit, where I was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal for my service in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. I was also stationed at several search and rescue units on the Great Lakes; most recently as a Coxswain at station Grand Haven in Michigan.
