About

Title: ScrumMaster / QA Manager

I operate as a ScumMaster for a single Scrum team, I actively participate as a member of the development team, with a focus on QA activities.

I became a certified ScrumMaster in 2015. I am a strong advocate for Agile development methods, and I feel this sits well with my QA background, as both roles require a passion for delivering valuable, quality products.

In addition to my product development activities, I am also responsible for the quality assurance of our consultancy team’s bespoke projects.

My formal qualifications include a BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Science. My career experience is focused on supporting, and providing professional services to, hosted and on-premise software solutions, for both SMEs and multinational companies.

My background in consultancy and support means I am ideally positioned to operate in cross-functional roles where a wide range of skills are required, for example complex consultancy projects such as platform upgrades, web farms or integration tasks.

My skills are focussed around the development and delivery of web based technologies across the whole application life-cycle, including stakeholder analysis, agile product development, agile testing methodologies and web application development.

Active skill set includes
Scrum, Technical documentation, Requirements analysis, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server (TFS), Web development,  .NET C# and VB, SQL, SQL Reporting, IIS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Virtualisation tools, Web based Application Debugging and Profiling tools, Load and Performance Profiling tools/techniques, Application security.

I take influences from these authors who have helped me develop my skills:

  • Kenneth Rubin: Scrum theory
  • James Whittaker: Exploratory testing.
  • Lisa Crispin: Agile testing techniques.
  • Alan Richardson: Technical testing and Selenium.
