All my professional life I was in project management for web and mobile products, for various industries as logistics, travelling and public services.
Starting with classic waterfall project management in 2006, the agile journey started in 2012 from point zero:
In the first company I worked for using agile, Scrum had a bad reputation at the start. Therefore we tried out everything on our own, just in order to come to a setup very similar to scrum in the end. This seems strange, however scrum didn´t have the reputation it has today. In the end, this approach gave us the opportunity to try everything out on our own and make own experiences and learnings. When I left in 2016, we had shortened the average release cycle time from quarterly to biweekly and the IT scrum teams worked hand in hand with a marketing team as dual track scrum, quickly implementing new ideas upon new insights gained by the last sprint.
Later, I worked as a product Owner in the public sector for a self-assessment-tool for pupils who need orientation what to study or work after school. About 50% of all german pupils use this tool at least once before ending school. This product was implemented by 3 scrum teams, which started separately with limited cooperation. Later, we shifted to one common backlog, common big room planning, common retrospectives and a voluntary daily project standup for all members (similar to a daily nexus meeting) in order to fix daily impediments, often concerning integration topics.
Then, I founded Senta Agile Consulting as a fine small agile consultancy company. Our aim is to offer high quality agile consultancy for all scrum roles plus agile coaches. In 2019 we started to expand. In order to be highly attractive for employees and future company partners, we established a value-based culture aiming for a maximum of agility. For example, we don´t know career paths but only responsibility levels, which the individual colleagues choose by themselves.
