About

Fernando Paz is a advanced developer in essence. He started in 2001 as practicer in an local enterprise; during this time he got some experience around team working, real world sceneries and how to get auto-training in his professional life.

Since this years he was always was close to free/open source software technologies and got many benefits from the community. For too many years, working over dozens of projects as developer and team leader, he got more experience around free/open source software as serious alternative for enterprise solutions; sometimes he returned the community efforts, being part of it in many ways, but, he still has many questions around this paradigm.

Although he passed from the corner of 'free rider' to 'active member' of the community, he decided to start an formal instruction of this paradigm. In 2010 he started a Master on Free/Open Source Software at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and as result he got response for many of his doubts and mainly the feedback of how really works the development process of projects around the community.

He discovered that the way that community develop software, from which he was an activist, has many components of agile principles. The course of a product around the community was established by community requirements in consensus with the feedback of the implicit customers, so it discovers new features, possibles alternatives, integrations, fixes priority, etc. The amount of work produced by this requirements are freely adopted by commiters and in predefined times the commitments result as new version ready for the client... so close to agile process. The clients get continuous useful products and the community can get business around this team efforts.

Since these years he started an adoptive process of agile methodologies and particularly Scrum paradigm. He and his coworkers implements agile process for many projects around Scrum and the tools it offers, plus many experiences around free software :)

These days he works improving skills an native scenery 'development', being mentor for adoptive strategies like user experience, TDD, sprint planning, estimate work, help customers to discovery their product in mind, etc.; all about get really ROI of the investment.
