About

Title: Scrum Master

My name is Cory Straim.  I am new to the San Francisco bay area as of 03/15/2012. Born and raised in the Chicago land area, I am a Midwesterner at heart, with a gregarious love of the outdoors as a social activity.  Skiing, hiking, biking, walking, running, camping, boating are some of my favorite things to do. Moving to San Francisco has afforded me the ability to have everything I love available to me at my fingertips.  I will forever be a tourist enjoying the things that makes life so special. On the flip side, my inner "geek" has a myriad of other interests such as video games, tech toys, sci-fi, comics, cartoons, anime, fantasy, board games and other "big kid" favorites are on the top of my list.

I believe in shared values, communication and collaboration in all aspects of my life, and take every opportunity to share my experience with others who are interested.  For example, I am an avid fitness buff. I lift at the gym daily and apply nutritional principles to my diet that I have garnered from years of online research, books and knowledge from others with similar interests.  There is nothing I enjoy more than sharing this information with people I meet who are also interested in getting in better shape, as I get a sense of accomplishment when I can help someone else meet their fitness goals.  At times, I thought I would become a fitness trainer; however, my passion lies in helping / coaching others in this area for fun, as I also learn from them symbiotically without an expectation for something in return.

Bringing this all together, I have also always been fond of looking for fun things to do on and off the beaten path. Whether it’s planning a group outing, road trip or vacation, my friends and family have always relied on me to make things happen and ensure everyone is having fun.  I am constantly arranging activities with my friends and family, while making and meeting new friends along the way. I enjoy being a leader so much, that I decided to make it my profession.  This passion has brought me far in my career and I'm constantly trying to improve upon my leadership abilities by applying them daily at home and at work, learning from the my own experience, as well as others. I have been managing / coaching project teams for over 10 years now as of 2012, and am looking forward to many more years to come of helping teams succeed at reaching their long and short term goals.
