About

My career in technology started over 15 years ago when I took a quality assurance position for a CBT division of a video training company. I learned that I really enjoyed finding, investigating and working with the developers to fix the bugs I found. As I continued my career in Quality Assurance, I learned the importance of reaching out to the community of testers outside of my organization. I set the standard of becoming certified in Software Quality Assurance in an attempt to get the department to start following best testing practices and to use the terms common in our profession. I eventually took on a mentoring role to those in my department. This ultimately led me to the opportunity to become a candidate for a ScrumMaster role when my company migrated to Scrum. Being a servant leader has been the most challenging and rewarding role I have ever had in my career.

Because of my history in Quality Assurance, I encourage and work with my scrum teams to incorporate best testing practices like TDD. My specialty is in helping teams in transition to Scrum and other Agile practices. I enjoy working with teams towards continuous improvement through the use of engaging and thought provoking retrospectives. I rely heavily on the use of games to help teams understand areas for improvement.

I try to attend various Agile gatherings in an effort towards self-continuous improvement. I also read just about anything related to Agile that I can get my hands on. I am actively working towards becoming an Agile Coach as I enjoy mentoring and sharing my knowledge and experience with others.

I enjoy learning as much as I can about Agile by constantly reading books, blogs and papers on the topic as well as attend Agile events. I generally take what I've learned and apply it to my scrum teams.

I have participated in or facilitated ScrumMaster Community of Practices at every organization I have been a ScrumMaster for as I understand and appreciate the value of exchanging ideas and reaching out to the ScrumMaster community for help with issues I might not have dealt with in the past. I have also facilitated book clubs in an effort to help teams get a better understanding of topics like Estimation.

I look forward to where my Agile journey takes me.
