SCRUM FOR

PROJECT MANAGERS

Microcredential · Scrum Alliance · 8 SEUs & PDUs

Scrum didn’t write you in. Learn where you fit, how to support the Product Owner and Scrum Master, and how to plan with confidence when scope is meant to change.

The scrum framework doesn’t define a project manager role, yet most scrum teams still work with one. This one-day course shows you how to combine your project management experience with scrum, add value without duplicating anyone’s accountability, and explain it all to the executives who still want a date.

Who it’s for: Project managers, program managers, project coordinators, PMO teams, business analysts, and leaders of project teams — anyone accountable for delivery while the team works in sprints. No prerequisites required.

Led by Certified Scrum Trainer, Elite CEC Coach & PMP Scott Dunn

Trainer Scott Dunn is certified in SAFe and LeSS and has led multiple companies through their Agile transformation, including Deloitte, Dell, Pacific Life, Safran, Rovi, and NASA. He is one of a very few Certified Enterprise Coaches by the Scrum Alliance — a credential that is peer-reviewed and takes years to attain.

Scrum skipped your role
but your team still needs you

The problem is…

You’re not sure where your role fits on a scrum team
You worry about stepping on the Product Owner or Scrum Master
Executives still want a date while scope keeps changing
Your project plans don’t match how the team works in sprints
PMO processes slow your teams down instead of helping them
You moved into agile delivery without formal training

Scrum didn’t define your role? Learn to add value without duplicating anyone’s accountability — and gain the confidence to plan and lead when scope is meant to change.

What You’ll Learn

Find Where You Fit on a Scrum Team

Build the business case for agile and see exactly where a project manager adds value.

The Business Value of Agile

Compare predictive, adaptive, and hybrid approaches, see where you fit in each, and explain the choice in language executives care about.

Apply Scrum through Simulation

Run a scrum simulation with deliberately thin instructions, experience what happens when roles are unclear, and find where a PM’s support actually helps.

Scrum Roles

See how project and product management work is shared across a scrum team, and how you add value without duplicating anyone’s accountability.

What You’ll Practice

Plan and Lead When Scope Changes

Move beyond theory and leave with a personal action plan for your own team.

Project Initiation

Charter and kick off work in a way that sets the team up without slowing it down — clear ownership, aligned resources, and trust with stakeholders.

Adaptive Planning

Plan across time horizons with backlog refinement, relative estimation, velocity, and forecasts that hold up when uncertainty is the norm.

Retrospective

Connect what you’ve learned to your own role and build a personal action plan for improving your team’s performance.

Servant Leadership

Apply Robert Greenleaf’s seven aspects of servant leadership and move from command-and-control to enabling the team.

FAQ

Are there any prerequisites?

None are required. Because the course builds on scrum basics, you’ll get the most out of it with a foundation from CSM, CSPO, or Scrum Essentials. If scrum is new to you, email [email protected] and we’ll help you decide where to start.

Is there an exam?

No exam. Attend the full day and take part, and we register you for the Scrum for Project Managers microcredential. Your digital badge follows shortly after.

What credential do I receive after completing this course?

You’ll earn the Scrum for Project Managers microcredential from Scrum Alliance, along with an official digital badge, a two-year Scrum Alliance membership, and 8 SEUs and 8 PDUs.

Does it count toward my PMP renewal?

Yes. The course earns 8 PDUs toward PMI certification renewals and 8 SEUs toward Scrum Alliance certification renewals, one of each per hour of live training.

How is the class delivered?

This is one full 8-hour day of live, interactive online training — not a pre-recorded video. You’ll take part in a scrum simulation, discussions, and hands-on exercises with the rest of the class, so plan on cameras on.
