This course is focused on helping you become a leader who can help others achieve shared goals in this ever-changing business world. Even with AI changing the software development landscape, leading people is still the key to successful organisations.

You will leave with

  • The judgement to tell which problems to plan and which to probe
  • The skill to turn a workgroup into a team that solves its own problems
  • An understanding of how to operate as a Scrum Master to uplift your team and organisation
  • Capability and understanding that outlasts any role or tool - plus the Scrum Alliance® certification

For companies, VAT is added to the course price.

People usually ask us…

Q: Is Scrum dead? — I see a lot of people claiming so online

A: AI is making things faster. And individuals can do more. AI can complement skills a person lacks, and does allow an individual to achieve more. But it doesn't address how you decide as a group and lead the work. The classical two-week cycles may be too slow for task planning and delivery, but for managing the roadmap, overall backlog and engaging your stakeholders it's still very good. The roles are still valid - someone brings in the market knowledge, others build things, and someone helps everyone stay on top of things.

Q: Is the Scrum Master role still worth it?

A: The role is shrinking; the skill isn't. It's moved to team leads, product people, and engineers — and it's judgment that outlasts any title. The certificate is the proof; the capability is the point.

Q: Is this an AI course?

A: No. AI is context, not the subject. We focus on leading people well — the thing a tool can't do for you.

Q: Do I need experience?

A: No. The foundation is valuable at any level. But if you do have experience, it will help you grasp some of the advanced topics more easily.

Q: Will this be a boring death-by-powerpoint course?

A: No. Even though it's an online course, it will not be a monotonous slideshow. There will be many group exercises, and engaging discussions. Participants are encouraged to interrupt and ask questions, or even challenge the trainer. Topics will be sprinkled with real-life stories and advice.

Q: How does CSM align with the Product Owner course (CSPO)?

A: These two courses are complementary.

CSM focuses on leading the work - choosing the right framework (it's not just about Scrum), what makes Scrum really tick, how to work with a team as a Scrum Master, and how to make a group of people into a team.

CSPO focuses on the Product Owner role and its key responsibilities - identifying what value means and creating a vision, building a backlog and prioritising the items, and engaging stakeholders.

There is very little overlap in content, and they work very well together to provide a good overview of how to run projects well in an Agile way.

Over the three days, we will cover the following topics:

  • Agile mindset - value and principles
  • System types and leadership
  • Scrum as a framework
  • ScrumMaster role in detail
  • The true difference between Agile and Waterfall
  • Team formation
  • Retrospectives

We will manage the agenda with a Product Backlog that will be updated during the course, including topics introduced by the participants.

This course is ideal for:

  • Team leads and senior developers holding a team together
  • Product owners and managers carrying delivery as well as direction
  • Engineering managers and tech leads who own how a team works
  • Anyone investing in their own capability as the work changes

The three training days run for 6 hours each, with a lunch break in the middle of the session. We will start each day at 9:00 and end at 15:00.

We will be using Zoom for the video connection and Miro for collaboration and exercises. Please be prepared to have your video on, at least for most of the day.

We will send you some preparation material and small assignments, to prep you with foundational information. Going through the materials will make it easier for you to absorb the ideas on the course. A lot of the content on the course is more advanced concepts.
