Are there any prerequisites for this course?

There are no prerequisites for the AI for Scrum Masters course. However, attendees are expected to complete the required pre-course reading and activities.

The course assumes some prior understanding of prompt engineering. This can come from previous experience using generative AI, completion of the Scrum Alliance Get Started with AI Prompt Engineering microcredential, or the required pre-course preparation. You do not need to be an AI expert, but you should be familiar with the basics of writing and refining prompts before attending.

What about exams and certifications?

There are no exams and on completion you receive the Scrum Alliance Microcredential AI for Scrum Masters.

The course covers five key areas designed to help you integrate AI into your Scrum Master practice:

The Human and the Machine: Understanding Where AI Belongs

Explore your Scrum Master accountabilities through the lens of AI augmentation. Identify where AI can provide valuable support and where human skills, judgement, relationships, and interaction remain essential.

Exploring and Discussing the Risks of AI

Examine the key risks associated with using AI, including ethical considerations, data privacy, and algorithmic bias. Explore practical strategies and guardrails for using AI responsibly with team and product information.

The Prompting Playbook: Your Framework for Success

Apply prompt engineering techniques to realistic Scrum scenarios. Create and refine prompts, explore structured prompting frameworks, use iteration to improve AI outputs, and consider how your use of AI connects with the Scrum Values.

Creating Your Personal AI Strategy

Move from understanding AI to deciding how you will use it in practice. Explore different Scrum Master stances and create a personal, actionable strategy for using AI to enhance your team’s effectiveness.

Building Your AI Toolkit

Explore the wider landscape of AI tools and consider where different types of tools could support your Scrum Master practice. Evaluate potential tools against your personal strategy, context, and the Scrum Values to begin building your own AI toolkit.

  • Scrum Masters who want to understand how AI can support and enhance their practice
  • Agile coaches and practitioners who support Scrum Teams and want to explore the practical application of AI
  • Scrum, agile, and product teams looking to explore how AI could support their work and ways of working
  • Product Owners who want to better understand how AI can support their team and Scrum practice
  • Anyone introducing AI to Scrum Teams who wants to understand where AI can add value and where human skills remain essential
  • Teams and individuals who want to learn how to leverage AI responsibly and effectively within a Scrum environment

Attending as a team gives colleagues the opportunity to develop a shared approach to using AI, practise prompting together, and explore how generative AI could support their goals, workflows, and ways of working.
