This class will focus on Scrum from a Product Owner perspective and simultaneously to teaching we will work on a case, from idea to detailing a requirement ready for sprint planning.
As a Product Owner you are one member of a team, the Scrum Team. Members of a team work together to solve problems. In the team there are different kind of work, such as making business decisions, execute requirements, stay on course on how we work as a team. In Scrum there are no longer any roles but accountabilities. We have 3 different names for the team members in a Scrum Team. In short we can describe them as below
- Product Owner: Accountable for business decisions.
- Developer: Implement requirements
- Scrum Master: Ensures the team stays on course in organizing work.
Within the Scrum Team, members collaborate closely in an iterative process, to solve problems and deliver incremental value to the product, supporting continues improvement and alignment with the organization.

You know you are doing the Heart of Scrum,
- if the team has a potentially shippable increment by the end of a sprint
- when the organization accepts that developing complex products is unpredictable
- if nobody allocates assignments and ensures they are done in time
- when the team iteratively delivers value, embracing transparency, inspection, and adaption.
- when a cross-functional team is given full authority over how to achieve a goal
- when everyone on the Scrum team is thinking as a team rather than individuals

If you want to read about how the quotes came about and who said what, go to the Heart of Scrum website.
Apart from learning about Scrum we will address above quotes, and strategies for fulfilling each of the quotes. It is challenging and very few Scrum Teams can say they fulfill all quotes. See the full agenda in another tab.
