Our Approach

As a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), you’ve already gained a strong foundation in Scrum values, practices, and applications, setting you apart from typical project managers. To build on this, the next step is the Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) certification. Ideal for those with at least one year of experience as a CSM, this program will deepen your expertise and enhance your skills, empowering you to excel further in your role.

This course also allows students to claim 16 Scrum Alliance Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and 14 Project Management Institute (PMI) Professional Development Units (PDUs), which can be applied to Project Management Professional (PMP) and PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certifications.

Special discounts are available for this class. Reach out to [email protected] to see if you are eligible.

Certification prerequisites

While anyone is welcome to attend the course, students must meet the following requirements to earn the Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A‑CSM) certification from Scrum Alliance:

Hold an active Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification
Demonstrate at least one year of work experience as a Scrum Master, documented in their Scrum Alliance profile
Successfully complete an accredited Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A‑CSM) course—this class qualifies

Testimonials
"Thanks for a great class. I just wanted to let you know that I passed the exam and am now a Certified ScrumMaster. I am starting a new project and we have elected to run it using Scrum. I am excited to apply my new skills to this project.” – Lisa P. “I also wanted to thank you for teaching us today. The training was very helpful. I posted a picture of my Scrum Alliance profile on this email (just for fun). And the video’s we saw in class was very funny. I have already begun to look at information on the next steps for CSP. Thanks again.” – Marbella M. “I’m pleased to report that after taking the CSM exam almost immediately after today’s class I passed with an almost perfect score. I only missed two questions out of a total of 35 and after reading them I realized it was only because I rushed through them. I just want to thank you again for all of your help as I continue on the CSP path.” – Antwane S.	"Your training is still one of the best I've been to over the past few years!” – Dave K. “I was in your Blacksburg CSM class this week. I passed the CSM exam last night, so thank you for the excellent classroom preparation. One thing I forgot to add the course feedback was how innovative I thought it was for you to use Scrum to teach Scrum. Very well done!” – Josh

Very knowledgeable and experienced coach/trainer.

This is my 2nd class with “Mack”. Very informative, engaging, and gracious facilitator and coach! Everyone is empowered to ask questions and participate.

Very well structured, Patrick drives collaboration very well, presents perspectives, and shares personal experiences rather than industry standard blanket statements.

Dr. Patrick “Mack" McConnell was an outstanding instructor for the Advanced Certified Scrum Master course, just as he has been in every other course of his I’ve taken. He’s engaging, funny, relatable, and remarkably generous with his time and knowledge — always willing to go the extra mile to explain a new concept clearly. He was especially patient with students who needed a bit more time to grasp a particular idea (myself included, more often than not), and he never made anyone feel rushed or behind. Mack approaches teaching with genuine humanity, and it shows in every session he leads. (Shoutout also to Danny and Jen for always supporting us!)
