At Fordham University, my undergraduate alma matter in New York, I focused primarily on new media such as HTML/CSS, Flash/Dreamweaver, and Digital Video Editing. After graduation, I worked as an HTML coder at a few placed before ending up in Arizona becoming "an IT guy." Wanting to challenge myself to something more than crawling under people's desks to plug in cables, I sought out a Masters of Information Management (MSIM) at Arizona State University's WP Carey School of Business in 2009. Described as a "technical MBA" by some, this program gave me a solid foundation for many aspects of the business-side of technology like project management techniques, leaderhsip qualities, and knowledge management skills. I also valued greatly the relationships I fostered which lead to a job as a business analyst immediately after graduation with a growing web design company in Tempe called Meltmedia. Working as a business analyst and project coordinator ultimately lead to my ultimate role as a Scrum Master.

After 3 years at Meltmedia, I was recruited to work for WebFilings in 2012 (renamed to Workiva in 2014) as a dedicated Scrum Master (renamed to Delivery Manager in 2014) for several teams whose focus is mobile apps (iOS and Android) and HTML5 web apps. Working for Workiva has been a constant and welcome challenge. Most challenging has been coordinating with our remote offices whose platforms are consumed by our products in Scottsdale. Being that conduit for communication throughout the company has helped me to become a valued and trusted member of the Workiva ecosystem.

Since graduate school, I have focused on turning my technical skills into leadership and coaching skills. In growing companies like Meltmedia and Workiva, I have tried to help development teams be the most efficient they can be by constantly improving skills, changing mindsets, and empowering members. Through Agile methodologies I have been able to help explain to the next generation of developers that working smart, not hard, can produce quality code and significant results.
