Who is BJ Jensen?
First and foremost, I hope you are having an amazing day… you deserve nothing but the best. I appreciate your interest in learning a little more about me. Regardless of all the certifications and designations on my resume or LinkedIn profile, I identify as a career Scrum Master. Throughout my tenure, I’ve worn multiple hats as a quality engineer, business analyst, project manager, proxy product owner, incident manager, release manager, and people leader. I’ve written and prioritized Epics, Features, User Stories, facilitated Agile 101 workshops, created countless KT documents, hosted Agile maturation sessions with other Scrum Masters & Scrum Teams, all while delivering best-in-class software with the development teams I’ve served. I have applied and championed successes in Agile Scrum, Kanban, some XP, and SAFe. Whatever the flavor at hand, all roads have led back to my fundamental roots and passion as a Scrum Master. With 15 years of service in the tech industry, servant leadership is in my DNA. I believe in the art of connection, engagement, humanity, collaboration, fulfillment, inspection, adaption, and empowerment.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the awesome privilege of serving over 20 development teams in the capacity of a Scrum Master, mentor, and coach. Just like every individual, every team was unique. I have had success in transforming a department from Waterfall to Agile Scrum and further adopting DevOps disciplines. I have had victories with coaching and guiding teams out of gross anti-patterns and back into alignment within the scope of the Scrum framework. With every team, I have had the ability to pull metrics and data to showcase baselines, improvements, opportunities, and new discoveries. In every case, I’ve had the arduous task of building or rebuilding trust.

Within a Scrum Master’s capacity, I’ve spearheaded the delivery of a revolutionary online-only digital checking account, revamped an entire FinTech consumer website making it ADA compliant (WCAG). I facilitated the implementation of customer segmentation, personalization, and Adobe Analytics on a Mediatech site. I’ve championed multiple system migrations, including server to cloud and MySQL to MongoDB. Recently, I led the delivery of complex capabilities on a Mediatech site enabling multiple accounts at a single address, robust customer retention initiative, critical enhancements to improving API call/response times, and delivered a first-ever product ensuring 24/7 data connectivity during any type of outage.
