Peter Popov
I started my career as a Project Manager in 2001 out of Zurich outsourcing to Bulgaria. It was my first experience with iterative development. I then spent several years in Tech Support, in a semi-kanbanized environment (as all Support departments are.) I finally discovered Scrum in 2009. It was then that I fell in love with Agile with its beautiful, simple logic and human touch. I took over a derailed project as the Scrum Master and got it back to basics, under control, and eventually through to completion. I then joined Cisco as a Product Owner, and since I already knew enough about Scrum and Agile, I took over Agile coaching as well.
A year later I moved to a larger program as a Program Manager / Agile Coach. I introduced Scrum with two-week Sprints, Definitions of Done and Ready, unit and automation testing, code inspection and reviews, CI, SoS, estimation scales, release planning, portfolio management, metrics, and also wrote a number of plugins that no ALM tools offered at the time, some even to date. We even did SAFe back in 2011, even though we didn’t call it that at the time.
After Cisco, I joined Skyscanner as a full-time Agile Coach. This was an excellent opportunity to further expand my knowledge beyond Scrum and Kanban and into Theory of Constraints and Management 3.0.
Recently, I took over a team of Scrum Masters at OSI, in addition to being the Lead Agile Coach. It is my first exposure to line management, and a great opportunity to apply Management 3.0 in practice. It is my goal is to make OSI a truly Teal organization, possibly the first in Bulgaria and certainly the first in outsourcing.
