Since the mid-nineties I help governments and businesses to improve. I strongly believe in the impor- tance of a good process in order to get good results. 20 years ago, while in college I started my first company. I had serious doubts about the then current project management methods (waterfall). There had to be another way, a better way.

Inspired by my study of the time Public Policy I introduced short-cycled iterations with multi-disciplinary teams. And at the end of every iteration we demonstrated a working prototype to the client. This method was highly successful with clients like KPN, Twente University and the Ministry of Justice.

But I wanted more than delivering on time and within budget. I wanted to add value. The only way to do so was to adjust better to the needs of (end)users. In the years that followed this end user moved more and more to the center. Using persona’s and customer journeys I helped clients to get more in sync with their cus- tomers’ needs.

Only in 2010 when I trained with Jeff Sutherland to become a certified scrum master I discovered the paral- lels between my own methods and Lean and Agile. The last 5 years I apply my experience more and more outside the internet-domain. More often I am an agile coach to teams and Product Owners who have other goals than a website or platform.
