Matthieu Cornillon

Matthieu Cornillon has worked many different jobs. After college, he supported himself through various office work while he wandered around trying to figure out what he wanted to do.  He’s still not 100% sure.  Many of the early jobs involved using software to make his colleagues’ work easier.  He came to New York to pursue an acting career, working by day building custom applications for Pfizer’s internal library.  As a one-man development shop, he had the opportunity to learn coding skills, how to tease out customer needs, and how to manage things to completion.  Outside of work, he honed his knack for getting things done in theater (stage manager) and film (assistant director).  Matthieu’s ability to translate customer needs into working software got him noticed for later business analysis roles at Pfizer.  After leaving Pfizer, he spent a year in a hybrid PM/BA role, and became a Project Manager at a Scrum shop.  In his first week, he read “Agile Software Development with Scrum” (Schwaber/Beedle), and couldn’t stop saying, “Yes! Yes! Yes!”  Here was a way of working that jived with the truths he had observed in his previous 17 years working at organizations from tiny to huge, from private to non-profit to government sector.  Since then, Matthieu has been navigating the long, slow arc from driving things to completion from the center to espousing servant-leadership while coaching others from the sidelines.  The learning continues.
