About
A biochemist with an MBA (both from Va Tech) I am self-taught in all things IT. After unsuccessfully attempting to enter the biotech industry (a PhD is required, MBA is an afterthought; should have stayed in the graduate biochem program) I entered the IT field and worked my career ‘backwards’. I started a project manager, then evolved to technical lead, then heads-down coder. Currently I am in-between acting as a systems engineer. I consider myself a C/C++ programmer (over 12 years of experience) and a bit of a speed freak. I have over a decade working with databases (primarily Sybase and MS SQLServer) designing, creating, optimizing and briefly administering over a dozen databases. I also have a strong interest in infosec and was a CISSP. I have been studying integrated circuit fabrication with the eye toward combining it with biological molecules.
