John Hickson

Much of my career has been dedicated to startups or smaller established firms, building technical teams and putting new processes into place. I enjoy jumping in and doing whatever is needed to improve productivity and grow the business. I like having the autonomy to work largely unsupervised, while also respecting the constraints within the organization. New challenges drive me and I would rather have too much to do than not enough. Nothing motivates me more than someone’s doubt in my ability to solve a problem. I like building and working with teams that are talented and confident in their abilities. For a team to be effective, everyone must pull their weight, but not hesitate to ask when they need help. One of the pleasures in my work is to see a team just flow—individuals coming to together, with everything falling into place with little apparent effort.
