I was titular from the Software Project Management class at CIMAT from 2010 to 2018. Our Master Degree was based directly on the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Master Degree. To be accepted in the Master you must pass a Personal Software Process certification course. Also, the Team Software Process was used to manage and track the projects with the industry. The CIMAT Master Degree also invited teachers coming from the software industry. These teachers had a background in using Agile Methodologies, including Extreme Programming and Scrum. 

Also, the Mexican Government had a program to support IT and software professionals to obtain certification and make a stronger industry. PSP, SCRUM, and several more subsidized, even 85% of subsidies. At the same time, students needed to be certified in PSP, and later on, they could get Mexico First help to obtain a SCRUM certification, among others.

We use Scrum to develop prototypes and software projects and to manage the thesis of the current generations.  We use burndown charts to see how many thesis points the student had done and to evaluate if they were on time or not. Also, we include the Jeff Sutherland book "Doing twice in the half of time" as part of the obligatory reading list of the Software Project Management class. We were getting far from rigid methodologies like PSP. 

I've been near scrum last two years, acting as a Product Owner of the Fraud Team half of that time, and close to the team the other half. This hasn´t been my main responsibility, but I've been close to the evolutionary process of implementing scrum and agile places on the team and on the organizations. Now I am going back from product management to agile scrum coach and enjoying this reach experience to get the most from it.
