I'm principal consultant of improuv GmbH, Munich, Germany, specializied in agile development since 1998. My agile history goes back to Alistair Cockburn who has helped me to understand the basics of agile development and to run my first agile project one decade ago. Consequently, I am one of the few "Certified Crystal Practitioneers". Since 2006 I am also Senior Consultant of the Agile Product and Project Management Practice of the Cutter Consortium. My major interest and experience today is agile leadership and agile organizations, which goes far beyond the team level.
For me Scrum is one of the most interesting members of the agile family, because it has a lot of pragmatic approaches towards making agile suitable for large organizations. It provides transparency and pushes a lot of important painpoints in most organizations
I've started my career studying Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich, finishing in 1991 with a diploma (comparable to an MSc.). I spent six years as programmer, architect, project manager, and consultant at one of the major German software contractor companies (sd&m) before I started as an independent consultant 1998. Between 2010 and 2013 I was managing director of it-agile, another German agle company, before changing to improuv. I have engaged in numerous conferences as chair, PC member, and presenter, among them PLoP pattern conferences (program chair and PC), OOPSLA (PC member, workshop organizer, and tutorial presenter), XP, XPDays, ADC and Agile (PC member). I'm founding member of the Agile Alliance Non-Profit Organization and served for one year as board member, where I worked in the team that united the ADC und the XPUniverse conferences to form the Agile conference
