Work experience

Clearly Agile, Inc, Agile Coach/Trainer
June 2014 - Present, Tampa, FL, United States
At Clearly Agile, I have various roles. One of those roles is stepping into as Scrum Master position for various projects that the company works on for clients. Each project offers different challenges. Some clients want to get involved and participate as Product Owners. Other clients try for more a hands-off approach, but we make sure they are always involved. The team has been stable with few changes in its recent past. Because of this fact, we can estimate and know what our velocity is on every project. This stable team and its estimates allow us to have a realistic release plan. Another role I play is Product Owner for several clients. In this role, I treat my clients as stakeholders and have the authority to make the decisions on the product and outcome. If the team builds the wrong thing, it’s on me. In these cases, we have a strong self-organizing team that determines how to build the product right. Clients are updated with release burn ups and included in our Product Backlog Refinement sessions in addition to Sprint Reviews. When I’m not working on a project for a client, then I’m out getting involved in the community and playing a mentor role. I also contract myself out to other providers and provide training or coaching for various clients as needed.

Articles I've written

How to Run a Lean Beer
In our area we have a large local Agile user group and have had to create several subgroups and events to support our many members. One such recurring event is the new Lean Beer event. I would like to share how we run our it so that it will be easier for others to run similar events.
