David Burns
About
Dave was 12 when his grandfather bought him his first computer. He hasn't been able to stop using the thing ever since. Sure, he's not still using that same computer, but he was immediately sucked in by the emerging web technologies and they still fascinate him to this day. David studied Mass Communications at Bloomsburg University and Computer Science at Shippensburg University.
Dave was working at an e-commerce company called Xoxide back in 2006 when he picked up his online moniker "davexoxide" and stumbled upon VBDrupal 4.6. He evaluated many different platforms and, even during the Drupal 4.6 days, he saw the power and potential of using Drupal over the other CMSes available. He quickly learned not to hack core (bad! bad!), how to harness Drupal's strengths, accommodate its weaknesses, and he dedicated himself to Drupal development.
By 2007, Dave was in high demand as a Drupal developer and he accepted a job at Sony Music. This is where he first got to work with the team at Lullabot. He helped build the Sony artist platform, one of the largest and most trafficed Drupal multisite installations in the world. He also worked on Sony's MyPlay video portal.
In 2008, he moved to San Francisco to work with the newly foundedLifetime Digital team where he worked on yet more high profile / high traffic Drupal websites.
In 2009, Dave co-founded Rapid Waters Development, a company which was acquired by Lullabot in 2010. Dave is now a lead developer at Lullabot where he works on many Lullabot client projects, participated in development on Drupalize.me and Lullabot.com.
His grandfather is very proud of him.
