Ben Thorpe

Ben Thorpe is an experienced Product Owner and Software Product Management Consultant who works in the Financial Services industry in South Africa.

Ben is a certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Advanced Product Owner (A-CSPO).

Ben left IBM in the UK in 2000 to be product manager for a .com startup developing an XML enabled J2EE based database called Sentences. After returning to South Africa in 2005 he established the Software Lab for Silvemoon Business Systems, an insurance software vendor based in Cape Town. After a few years the lab was established and Ben moved on to PwC where he spent 5 years helping deliver transformation at the 3 largest Life Insurance companies in South Africa.  In the last 7 years Ben has been consulting independently as Product Owner at the largest General Insurer in South Africa where he has tackled the issues of digital and agile transformation at the coal face.

Ben's strength is establishing technical delivery capability within large corporate entities and ensuring understanding within the business to sustain agile delivery. If you need some guidance with agile Ben will be happy to support and coach your team.

Ben has his home in Cape Town with his wife Gaye, daughter Rebecca and son Jonathan.
