Mastering the Enterprise: The Strategic Scrum Professional (CSP-SM)

The Certified Scrum Professional® - ScrumMaster (CSP-SM) is the pinnacle of the Scrum Alliance practitioner track. It is designed for those who have mastered team-level dynamics and are ready to tackle the "last mile" of agility: The Organisation.

Led by veteran CST John McFadyen, this course is a practitioner-led masterclass in Lean thinking, systems dynamics, and executive-level coaching. We skip the basic theory to provide a consultancy-grade audit of your actual organisational challenges.

What Makes This Course Unique?

  • The Strategic Mentoring Session: Every booking includes a private 1-to-1 Agile Mentoring session with John. Use this time as a "Strategic Audit" to map your organisation’s value stream and troubleshoot systemic bottlenecks.

  • Lean & Systems Mastery: We dive deep into Value Stream Mapping and Systems Thinking. You’ll learn to identify the "hidden" organisational drag that prevents true agility at scale.

  • Peer-Led Excellence: Our cohorts attract senior practitioners. You aren't just learning from a trainer; you are networking with high-level peers facing similar enterprise-scale challenges.

  • The Practitioner’s Library: We leverage our extensive Knowledge Hub—a public library of deep-dive Scrum insights—to ensure our live time is spent on high-stakes simulations and troubleshooting, not just slides.

What Our Students Say

"John’s depth of knowledge is incredible. He doesn't just give you the theory; he gives you the 'why' and the 'how' from 20 years in the trenches. The 1-to-1 session was a game-changer for my career strategy."Prasanna V.

Your Path to Professional Mastery

This is the final formal step in the Scrum Master track. We focus on:

  1. Organisational Design: Moving from team structures to value-aligned organisations.

  2. Lean Leadership: Coaching executives to lead through empiricism and waste elimination.

  3. Advanced Facilitation: Guiding high-stakes strategy and alignment sessions.

The Professional Difference

A Practitioner’s Masterclass

The CSP-SM® is the transition from "Scrum Master" to "Strategic Leader." This course is strictly practitioner-led and theory-supported. We don’t spend time on slides; we spend time on the real-world application of Lean, Kaizen, and Systems Thinking. You will be in a cohort of senior peers, facilitating deep-dive discussions on how to navigate the messy reality of enterprise-scale Scrum.

Strategic 1-to-1 Mentoring

The hallmark of this course is the individual attention you receive. Every registration includes a private 1-to-1 Agile Mentoring session with John McFadyen. This acts as a "Strategic Audit" where you can bring your actual organisational value stream or team performance challenges for a private, expert review. This session alone often provides the breakthrough needed to justify the course ROI.

The Knowledge Hub & Continued Learning

While the live sessions are intense and interactive, we provide a foundation of high-level theory through our public Knowledge Hub. This allows us to hit the ground running on Day One with advanced models like 1-2-4-All and Causal Loop Diagrams, knowing you have a library of resources to return to for long-term reinforcement.

Path to Mastery

We view this course as a milestone in a lifelong journey. We provide clear guidance on the next steps of your professional coaching career, ensuring you leave with a concrete plan to move toward the highest levels of the Scrum Alliance track.

The Practitioner’s Path to Enterprise Mastery

Our agenda is built on the principle of being practitioner-led and theory-supported. We focus on the "real-world application" of advanced models, utilising peer discussion and veteran insights to solve complex organisational puzzles.

Day One: Lean Foundations & Advanced Coaching Stance

  • The History & Theory of Lean: A deep dive into Kaizen (continuous improvement) and identifying the 7 Wastes within an enterprise context.

  • Advanced Facilitation: Moving beyond the basics. We explore and practice advanced structures like 1-2-4-All to drive engagement and consensus in high-stakes environments.

  • The Professional Coaching Stance:

    • Establishing robust Coaching Agreements.

    • Understanding Personalities & Dynamics: How to leverage individual differences to move teams forward.

    • Shifting from "telling" to "empowering" at a strategic level.

Day Two: Service to Teams, Product Owners & The Organisation

  • Team Performance & Chartering: Utilising proven Team Performance Models and advanced chartering techniques to build high-velocity units.

  • Service to the Product Owner: Coaching the PO on value maximisation and strategic alignment.

  • Service to the Organisation: * Value Stream Mapping: Identifying the end-to-end flow of value and where the bottlenecks hide.

  • Real-World Experience Sharing: Facilitated discussions throughout the day focusing on the application of these ideas in your current workplace.

The Strategic Audit (Post-Course)

To ensure the transition from theory to practice, every participant receives a private 1-to-1 Agile Mentoring session with John McFadyen.

  • Applied Systems Audit: Bring your hardest current organisational challenge or a draft Causal Loop Diagram for expert review.

  • Career Strategy: Bespoke advice on navigating the professional coaching track.

This is a professional-level masterclass designed for Advanced Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches who have moved beyond team-level mechanics and are ready to tackle enterprise-level complexity.

This course is for you if:

  • You are an "Organisational Architect": You have mastered the Scrum events and now want to master Organisational Design and Value Stream Mapping.

  • You lead through Lean: You want to move beyond "Agile" as a buzzword and start using Systems Thinking to eliminate waste at the executive and portfolio levels.

  • You value Strategic Mentoring: You want a peer-level environment and a private 1-to-1 session to audit your specific organisational strategy.

Typical Roles in Our Cohorts:

  • Senior Scrum Masters with 2+ years of active experience.

  • Agile Coaches and Enterprise Consultants.

  • Lean Change Agents and Transformation Leads.

  • Engineering Managers and Product Directors are moving toward servant-leadership.

Prerequisites: To be eligible for the CSP-SM certification, you must:

  1. Hold an active Advanced Certified ScrumMaster® (A-CSM) credential.

  2. Be able to demonstrate at least 24 months of work experience specific to the Scrum Master role on your Scrum Alliance profile.

Commitment to Professional Excellence

The CSP-SM is a professional-level certification. To ensure a high-value experience for yourself and your senior peers, we set the following expectations:

1. The 'Mini-Teach' Requirement

At this level, mastery is demonstrated through the ability to teach. During the course, every participant will be expected to conduct a short "mini-teach" session on a Lean or Scrum topic of their choice. This is an opportunity to practice your advanced facilitation and coaching stance in a safe, peer-led environment and receive direct feedback from John.

2. Practitioner Engagement

  • Active Contribution: This course is practitioner-led. We expect you to bring real-world enterprise cases, failures, and successes to the table for group discussion.

  • Full Presence: 100% attendance is required for Scrum Alliance certification. As this is a human-centric coaching course, we operate a "Cameras-On" policy to foster genuine connection and professional facilitation.

3. Preparation & Prerequisites

  • Baseline Knowledge: We leverage our Knowledge Hub for foundational theory. We expect you to be familiar with basic Lean concepts so we can focus our time on advanced applications.

  • Certification Requirements: You must hold an active A-CSM credential and have 24 months of Scrum Master experience documented on your Scrum Alliance profile to receive your CSP-SM.

4. Post-Course Strategic Mentoring

  • Accountability: We expect you to take ownership of your growth by booking your 1-to-1 Agile Mentoring session within 30 days of the course. This is your opportunity to turn the "mini-teach" insights into a long-term career and organisational strategy.
