John Hayes

John Hayes is Founder of Leafboats, a software product creation and consulting company in Atlanta, GA, USA.

He began his professional career in software engineering in 2005 as an engineer for Yahoo!. At CNN he was technical lead for CNN.com's 2012 Election coverage and the 2015 overhaul of CNN.com, a replatforming and redesign project involving Scrum at scale, 5 development teams, and over 100 people.

As the CNN project came to a close, John moved to Tokyo to realize the power of fulfilling a personal dream--living in Japan. There at Rakuten he led a distributed team of 50+ engineers in the adoption of Scrum as well as other Agile methodologies and development process improvements. Upon return to America, he worked over 4 years as Director of Product Development and Director of Software Development at Octane5 International before founding his own company.

Everything is possible. Embracing this personal philosophy and unflinchingly sharing it with others, John has found his passion in leading teams to accomplish more than they ever thought they could.
