Darren Hagman is a veteran Software Developer, Scrum Master, and Project Manager with deep experience in both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum software development methodologies obtained while working in the eCommerce, banking, and aerospace industries.
Before getting into Software Development, Darren worked in the banking industry for five years after graduating with a BA (Economics) from U.B.C. He started in the software development industry as a QA Tester testing games while going to school at B.C.I.T. After graduating Darren started working as a Java Developer and quickly moved into Development Team Lead/Architect roles that often involved Project Management.
After 10 years in technical roles, Darren became a full time Project Manager. It was in his first projects at AeroInfo, A Boeing Company that he became exposed to Agile and successfully combined aspects of Scrum with Waterfall methods. Darren went on to obtain his PMP, CSM, and CSPO certifications. Darren helped his team implement Scrum/Agile while working at SAP, work with agile teams at Safeway, and is currently a Sr Project Manager(Scrum Master) working with 2 agile teams at PNI Media. Darren understands the challenges of implementing Agile/Scrum practices in a team and how to effectively interface with the waterfall world.

Scrum Master of team of four developers and two testers that develops a discount offer management system that is integrated with the store point of sale systems and other upstream systems. Manages bi-weekly sprints (daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, sprint planning and retrospective meetings, etc), develops and grooms product backlog. Also working as a Business Systems Analyst to write requirements documents for requested changes to our 3rd party vendor system. Projects included:
o Successfully delivered four bi-monthly releases containing new features for our offer management system.
o Successfully partnered with a 3rd party vendor to deliver a major release of their offer management component.
o Worked with business and development to build an in house replacement of the offer management system.
o Supported merger activities as needed with feasibility analysis and feature development.
SAP, IT Project Senior Consultant/Scrum Master

• Led a team of 14 locally and remotely based IT specialists in retiring intranet outdated functionality that represented a downtime risk valued at €30M. Drove pre-project consulting, managed budgets and timelines, and spearheaded the migration of several key functionalities in the €1.2M/year operation, successfully retiring the Distribution List Management tool and 14 (out of 23)workflows and significantly reducing the risk.
• Managed a team of 9 local and remote employees in a €400K identity management upgrade project designed to increase performance, stability and functionality by migrating to SAP Netweaver 7.2. Oversaw scope, timelines and budget forecasts, as well as delivering status updates and addressing risks and requirement changes.
• Additionally performed the Scrum Master role in the team’s transition from monthly iterative releases to Agile.
