Curriculum for Certified Scrum Product Owner® Certification Training
1. Scrum Basics
Get familiar with the Scrum Flow, the core components of the Scrum framework, and the terms related to Scrum. Understand the principles/legs of empirical process control and the work culture that Scrum creates.
2. Scrum Roles and Responsibilities
Carry out a detailed study of the scope of the Product Owner, ScrumMaster and the team members in a Scrum team. Understand traditional project management and why there is no project manager or Agile product manager in Scrum.
3. Product Vision
Understand the importance of having the product vision as an overarching goal galvanizing the entire Scrum teams. Learn about the desirable qualities of the product and how product vision can be shaped. Understand the relationship between the product vision and product roadmap.
4. Estimating and prioritizing product backlogs
Get familiar with various estimation levels in Scrum and know how the accuracy of an estimate is more important than the precision of the estimate. Understand the impact of pressuring team members to provide low estimates and how estimating is different from committing.
5. Product Backlog
Know more about the product backlog and product backlog grooming.
6. Prioritizing
Get to know the importance and benefits of prioritizing the product backlog and the implications of saying ‘everything is mandatory’. Know whose inputs to take into prioritization decisions and how to prioritize the product backlog. Determine how much latitude to give a team in adjusting the sequence of work.
7. Release Management
Determine the goals and carry out release planning. Get familiar with concepts like ‘adaptive, iterative and collaborative’ planning, and technical debt. Learn how to measure velocity and release burndown charts.
8. Sprints
Understand the role of a Product Owner in Scrum and best practices for a Product Owner to collaborate with the development team. Understand why sprints are timeboxed and protected and learn the concept of sustainable pace and team commitment.
