Agile Bob has trained over 60,000 people and coached several hundred teams over the past twenty years. If you attend this workshop, you will be able to take advantage of his experience. Come and learn not just the basics but also the skills required for real-world success as an Agile Leader.
Because we all know what bad leadership looks like - and we see it everywhere! Leadership isn't about helping people believe everything is always fine or chasing shiny objects. We see bad leadership on TV shows, on the news, and in our own organizations. Leadership is about being present, aware, engaged, and honest. Leadership is about getting the best out of others, both in the short term and the long term.
Because your organization doesn't know how to help agile teams reach their full potential. An Agile team is a valuable part of an organization. However, those same organizations often fail to understand how to leverage team agility to achieve far better overall effectiveness. Leadership should be different in an Agile organization, and this class will help you understand these differences and prepare you to be a more effective leader regardless of your current role.
Because you know in your heart there has to be a better way. It might just be a feeling in your gut, but you know something isn't quite right. In this class, you will learn how to act on that feeling and learn skills to help you improve the situation.
And a bonus reason that's very personal:
Because you can, and should be, a great leader! You don't need a leadership title to be a leader. Being a leader is about helping others reach their full potential. All of us should be doing that!
Authentic leadership is in short supply right now. Many Agile organizations have adopted an Agile framework at the team level, but this is often where the transition stops. They fail to realize that organizational agility can help unleash the potential of teams. Organizational agility is brought about by Agile leaders understanding that "responding to change over following a plan" doesn't mean rushing and pursuing every new idea. It's also about saying "NO!" when required. Being an Agile Leader is about solving real problems that you see every day! Leadership isn't just for those in positions of authority; it's for everyone, because leadership is about bringing out the best in others. Consider this quote from world-famous leadership author, Peter Drucker:
“The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say "I." And that's not because they have trained themselves not to say "I." They don't think "I." They think "we"; they think "team." They understand their job to be to make the team function. They accept responsibility and don't sidestep it, but "we" gets the credit. This is what creates trust, what enables you to get the task done.”
Everyone in an organization using any Agile practices needs to know how to be an Agile Leader. Some people are deemed leaders due to their positional authority in an organizational chart. Others are leaders because of their everyday actions, and this is where many of us fit in.
Some questions to consider:
Am I satisfied to allow myself, my team, and my organization to say "we've always done it that way", or am I interested in learning how to change that mindset to help the team, organization and myself be more successful?
Am I ready to truly understand how organizational agility impacts results, or am I ok just letting teams "do" agile and the organization gets what it gets?
Am I ready to grow my career by becoming a great leader, or do I want to just stay in my lane because I'm comfortable?
The best Agile leaders recognize that they require more than a basic understanding of leadership and agility - they must be able to integrate the two effectively. And you’ll join their ranks when you choose Agile Bob's two-day Certified Agile Leader 1 workshop.
What should I expect during the class?
Come prepared to have a unique online experience where you participate, laugh, learn, and enjoy being a member of the class. In an Agile Bob online class, you won't get death by a thousand paper cuts (ie, death by PowerPoint). Far from it! Bob usually speaks only for short intervals before groups explore various exercises which are carefully crafted to challenge everyone to think in a more Agile way. During your online learning experience, you will utilize the latest collaboration tools, including Zoom and Miro, to engage in breakout exercises, live collaborative experiences on a Miro board, and participate in numerous interactions, challenging you to think deeply about the content. This video is a screen grab from a portion of an actual class using Miro:
