About
Aimee McLean is an experienced Certified ScrumMaster and Scrum Product Owner, with exceptional communication and problem solving skills. Aimee is able to identify and develop effective solutions for complex challenges, and has considerable acumen in process improvement. Aimee is experienced working in cross functional teams from varied backgrounds, and is able to motivate and develop high performing teams, through coaching, mentorship, and visual management. Aimee began her career with the law in mind. Majoring in English and pre-law, Aimee was focused on the path of becoming an integral part of the justice system. Then, through a chance encounter and exposure to a different career path, she made the decision to redirect her focus and explore the world of project management. She began as a project coordinator in the waterfall world and has risen through hard work and determination to Scrum Coach. Having no knowledge of Agile or Scrum, Aimee has been an advocate since the beginning of her career. Aimee has always valued people over process, working product over documentation, customers over contracts and responding to needs over sticking to an immovable plan. She just didn’t know that it had a name. Aimee has always prided herself on ensuring that “projects” benefit all parties and that the true personal happiness factor is not lost in all the chaos of “getting the work done.” As a Coach, Aimee has called on her skills as a project manager, resource manager, people manager and even multi level marketing professional to navigate through challenges presented by teams, stakeholders and C level advisors. She has developed a unique perspective on handling ceremonies, situations and Scrum defectors. Aimee has a unique brand and style that makes her an asset to any Scrum team and certainly has afforded her the mindset needed to be mentored by her esteemed teacher, mentor and friend, Nigel Thurlow. Aimee knows that she still has much to learn and has barely edged her way into the “Ha” stage of knowing. However, being a successful coach is not just about telling other people what to do or receiving accolades from management. A Scrum Coach has a responsibility to share knowledge of experience, encourage teams to always strive to be better and to never stop learning and self-developing.
