Our Approach

Sprightbulb Learning's Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) training class is a two-day experience that fully immerses students in Agile principles and the concepts and practices that define the Scrum framework.

This course allows students to take the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) exam after training to become Certified ScrumMasters. This course also allows students to claim 16 Scrum Alliance Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and 14 Project Management Institute (PMI) Professional Development Units (PDUs), which can be applied to Project Management Professional (PMP) and PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certifications.

CSM Exam

Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to take the Scrum Alliance's Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) exam to earn their certification. The exam is a 50-question, open-book test with a one-hour time limit, requiring at least 37 correct answers to pass.

Students who complete the CSM course receive two prepaid exam attempts. If a student does not pass the exam after two tries, they may retake Sprightbulb's CSM course for free. Since 2018, 98% of Sprightbulb Learning's students have passed the exam on their first attempt, and 100% have passed by a second attempt.

Teaching Style

The class is presented in a highly interactive and collaborative format with elements of lecture, classroom discussion, exercises, games, simulations, and video interwoven throughout the class. Students will have the opportunity to hear real-world examples of Agile application from their instructors.

Location Details

This Classes on both days will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Navy League Building, located at 2300 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 700, Arlington, Virginia 22201. The Navy League Building is located two blocks from the Court House metro station on the Orange and Silver lines. Self-paid parking is also available nearby.

Very informative course!

Overall, my experience with Scrum Alliance was great. I took the CSM class and the instructor was Richard Cheng. Richard was articulate, inclusive and created a great balance between teaching, activities, and discussions. He managed time very effectively and set clear expectations from the start, which helped keep the class focused and productive. I especially appreciated how he structured the session into two “sprints” with realistic velocity expectations - it made the learning experience both engaging and practical, and ensured we stayed on track. Overall, a very well-run class. I would highly recommend Richard.
