What you need to join

You'll need an A-CSPO® certification — it doesn't need to be active. To receive your CSP-PO® credential you'll also need at least 24 months of Product Owner experience logged in your Scrum Alliance profile. You can start the programme before reaching 24 months and complete that requirement along the way.

How the CSP-PO® Programme Works

Self-Paced Mentorship — Your Organisation Is the Classroom

This is a rolling mentorship programme, not a classroom course. You join at any time and can complete in as little as 6 weeks or up to 6 months — you decide. We meet fortnightly on Thursdays, 5–6 pm UK time via Zoom. Between sessions, participants use professional networks to stay connected and often arrange additional peer-led sessions. Rickard coaches at strategic and organisational level in the field every week — the guidance you receive is drawn from live client work, not theory.

No Exam — Certification Through Demonstrated Professional Practice

There is no exam. During your first mentoring session, we'll discuss the required professional learning log and set your desired outcomes for certification. You'll participate in a combination of peer events, workshops, and mentoring sessions while completing the log. You must attend at least four mentoring sessions and demonstrate competency across all professional learning objectives. The programme takes a minimum of 6 weeks to complete.

Your Learning Log — In Any Format That Works for You

As you progress, you'll record what you learn in a concise log — the format is entirely yours: written notes, slide decks, video reflections, sketches, whatever helps you communicate that learning. A peer-reviewed reflection session evaluates how the programme has developed your professional skills. Everything you practise can be applied directly in your organisation — your actual strategic work is your proving ground.

What are the prerequisites for the CSP-PO® programme?

You'll need an A-CSPO® certification — it doesn't need to be active. To receive your CSP-PO® credential, you'll also need at least 24 months of Product Owner experience logged in your Scrum Alliance profile. Is there an exam?

No. There are no written tests or exams. You earn your CSP-PO® by completing the programme requirements: attending at least four mentoring sessions, completing your professional learning log, and having it peer-reviewed. Your trainer looks for evidence that you can apply what you've learned at organisational and strategic level.

When can I start? How long do I have to finish?

You can start immediately after registering. If you see a "start date" on the Scrum Alliance website, those are marker dates due to how their system works. You have up to 6 months to complete the programme, and you go at your own pace — completing in as little as 6 weeks depending on your schedule.

How many people will be in the group?

Because the programme runs on a rolling basis, numbers vary from session to session — but we deliberately keep it small so every session is a genuine professional discussion, not a webinar. You'll know the other practitioners by name and work with a consistent group through your fortnightly sessions.

Are the sessions recorded?

No. Sessions are not recorded. If you miss a session, the fortnightly rolling format means you simply attend the next one — you won't lose progress. You must attend a minimum of four sessions overall to complete the programme.

Can I take a break if something comes up?

Yes. Life happens. You can pause and resume as needed within your 6-month window. Just let us know and we'll pick back up whenever you're ready. There's no penalty for taking a break.

What's the best way to approach the learning log?

Treat it as a professional development record woven into your real work. The format is entirely yours — written notes, slide decks, video reflections, sketches, whatever helps you communicate that learning. The hope is that everything you practise in this programme is something you can apply directly in your organisation, so your actual strategic work becomes your proving ground.
