Elevate Your Mastery: From Process to Performance

Many Scrum Masters hit a plateau after their first year. You know the rules, but you’re likely facing organisational red tape, unengaged stakeholders, or teams that are "doing" Scrum but not "being" Agile.

This A-CSM course, led by veteran CST John McFadyen, is designed specifically for experienced practitioners ready to move beyond being "process enforcers" and become true Agile Coaches. We don't do "Death-by-PowerPoint"; we focus on the high-stakes facilitation and professional coaching skills you need to lead at a professional level.

What Makes This Course Unique?

  • The 1-to-1 Mentoring Session: Every booking includes a private, post-course coaching supervision call with John. Bring your hardest workplace challenge, and we will build a concrete coaching plan together.

  • Consultant-Led Learning: John brings decades of "in-the-trenches" experience. You aren't just learning theory; you’re learning how to navigate the "Groan Zone" and organisational gravity.

  • Immersive Labs: We use real-world simulations to practice advanced facilitation, conflict resolution, and systems thinking.

What Our Students Say

"I learned a lot about coaching and new tools to use. I got to ask lots of questions that I had before the course. I really liked the way the course is so interactive."Ana Gill

"John is great, very knowledgeable, and answered all my questions! This course includes a lot of new information, tips, and tricks for coaching."Ioannis Ravanis

Your Journey to Coaching Mastery

This course is the bridge to your Certified Scrum Professional® (CSP-SM). We focus on:

  1. The Coaching Stance: Moving from "fixing" to empowering.

  2. Organisational Influence: Coaching leadership to remove systemic drag.

  3. Scaling Literacy: Practical approaches to multi-team coordination without the bloat.

Why Choose 'The Coach's A-CSM'?

Beyond the Certification: While you will earn your Scrum Alliance A-CSM® badge, the real value of this course lies in the shift in mindset. We move away from "Scrum by the book" and dive into the messy, human reality of corporate environments. You will leave with a practical toolkit of coaching models, facilitation techniques, and a clear vision for your career.

The 'Practitioner's Library': While the A-CSM badge is the goal, the real value lies in the ongoing support. All students are introduced to our Scrum Master Knowledge Hub, a comprehensive, publicly available resource of deep-dive articles, coaching models, and facilitation guides. We use these resources throughout the course to ensure you have a "living toolkit" to return to long after the sessions end.

The 1-to-1 Advantage & Mentoring: Most advanced courses leave you to figure out the implementation on your own. By including a private Coaching Supervision session with John McFadyen after the course, we ensure you have a safe space to discuss sensitive organizational issues. This session is a direct application of our professional Mentoring Programme, designed to bridge the gap between public theory and your private workplace reality.

Continuous Growth: By joining a Growing Scrum Masters cohort, you become part of a community focused on reaching the Certified Scrum Professional (CSP-SM) level. We don't just provide a course; we provide the roadmap for your entire coaching career.

The Journey from Process to Performance

Our agenda is designed to move you through the three layers of mastery: the Team, the individual, and the Organisation. We skip the slides to focus on high-stakes simulations and peer-coaching labs.

Day One: The Human Element & Professional Coaching

We focus on the people and dynamics that make or break a Scrum environment.

  • Advanced Facilitation: Moving beyond the "Groan Zone" to guide teams through conflict toward breakthrough consensus.

  • The Professional Coaching Stance: Shifting from "giving answers" to "asking powerful questions" using the GROW model and active listening.

  • Nurturing Self-Management: Strategies for coaching diverse teams toward high performance and true autonomy.

  • Service to the Product Owner: Techniques for coaching POs on long-term strategy, value maximisation, and product discovery.

Day Two: Systems, Strategy & Scaling

We pivot to the organisational and strategic challenges of the modern enterprise.

  • Systems Thinking: Identifying the "reinforcing and balancing loops" that cause organisational drag and systemic bottlenecks.

  • Scaling without Bloat: Practical, value-driven models for coordinating multiple teams on a single product without losing agility.

  • Organisational Influence: How to coach leadership and stakeholders to remove deep-seated impediments outside the team’s control.

  • Personal Coaching Roadmap: Designing your lifelong learning path to evolve from Scrum Master to Senior Agile Coach.

Post-Course: The 'Coaching Supervision' Session

The learning doesn't end on Day Two. Your booking includes a private 1-to-1 mentoring call with John McFadyen.

  • Real-World Troubleshooting: Bring your hardest current workplace challenge.

  • Career Strategy: Tailored advice on navigating your path to CSP-SM and beyond.

This course is specifically designed for practising Scrum Masters who have moved beyond the "honeymoon phase" of Scrum and are facing the messy reality of organisational complexity.

This course is for you if:

  • You’ve hit the "Scrum Master Plateau": You’ve mastered the mechanics of the events, but you’re struggling to influence leadership or change the broader organisational culture.

  • You want to transition to Agile Coaching: You are ready to move from "managing a process" to "coaching people and systems."

  • You face "Organisational Gravity": You’re dealing with unengaged stakeholders, team friction, or systemic bottlenecks that a basic CSM course didn't prepare you for.

  • You value Mentorship over Lectures: You aren't looking for a slide deck; you want a practitioner’s toolkit and a private 1-to-1 session to troubleshoot your specific real-world challenges.

Typical Roles in Our Cohorts:

  • Scrum Masters with 12+ months of experience.

  • Agile Coaches are looking to formalise their coaching stance.

  • Team Leads and Project Managers transitioning to a servant-leadership model.

  • Iteration Managers operating in complex, multi-team environments.

Note on Prerequisites: To receive the A-CSM certification, you must hold an active CSM® credential and be able to demonstrate at least 12 months of work experience specific to the Scrum Master role.

Student Expectations: Commitment to Mastery

To ensure the best possible learning experience for you and your fellow practitioners, we maintain a high standard of engagement. This course is designed to be a collaborative lab, not a lecture.

1. Full Attendance & Presence

  • Live Engagement: To meet Scrum Alliance certification requirements, 100% attendance is required across both days.

  • Camera-On Policy: This is a human-centric coaching course. We expect cameras to be on to facilitate real-time connection, non-verbal communication, and professional presence.

2. Active Participation

  • The "Lab" Mindset: You will be expected to step into "the arena." This includes participating in live coaching fishbowls, facilitation simulations, and small-group breakout sessions.

  • Contribution: We value your "in-the-trenches" experience. Come prepared to share your challenges and successes with the cohort.

3. Preparation & Prerequisites

  • The Essentials: You must hold an active Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) credential and have at least 12 months of work experience as a Scrum Master to receive the A-CSM certification.

  • Pre-Work: There may be light reading or a short introductory video to watch before Day One to help us hit the ground running with practical exercises.

4. The Post-Course Mentoring Session

  • Accountability: We expect you to schedule your 1-to-1 Coaching Supervision session within 30 days of completing the course. This is your time to bridge the gap between theory and your specific workplace reality.
