You'll gain practical, hands-on skills that are crucial for successful product delivery in a real-world setting where conditions and requirements seem to constantly change. In this course, you will be introduced to essential skills and concepts, including how to:

  • Transform product backlog items into increments of value
  • Use a sprint backlog to forecast a sustainable amount of work you can complete that will create the next increment of the product
  • Carry out a daily scrum to synchronize your work with your teammates
  • Use scrum events to improve team self-management and collaboration
  • Apply architectural and design principles in an agile environment, emphasizing technical excellence
  • Define and understand the principles of refactoring, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Continuous Integration (CI), including their benefits and how they support agile practices

See the CSD Learning Objectives to find out what this course includes.

If you are part of a technical team and your goal is to deliver "Done," high-quality increments every sprint, this course is for you.

  • Software Developers: The primary audience. It covers how to handle technical debt, refactoring, and pair programming.

  • Testers & QA Engineers: To learn how testing fits into the "Definition of Done" and how to collaborate earlier in the cycle.

  • Architects: To understand how emergent design works in an Agile environment versus traditional "Big Design Up Front."

  • Technical Leads: To help mentor their teams in modern engineering practices.

  • Product Owners (Technical): Those who want a deeper understanding of the technical constraints and possibilities their teams face.

To participate in the online course, you'll need the following:

  • A quiet, comfortable place to be for the duration of the class
    • Choose an area without distractions
    • Be mindful of managing potential interruptions (e.g. children, pets, etc).
  • Computer (desktop, laptop, or tablet)
  • Camera and microphone (we'll have virtual breakout rooms)
  • Headset to filter out room noise
  • Internet connectivity
  • Ability to download the workbook

What to Expect...

  • Breaks – The course will include frequent breaks to allow time away from the screen, time to stretch your legs, and check on friends/family.
  • Video Required – You'll be working with others in video breakout rooms. It's a unique way to engage with your classmates and dive deeper into discussions.
  • Tools – Our coaches have incorporated easy-to-use websites and online collaboration tools to support their lessons.

We ask that you participate like you would if you were in class.

  • Punctual arrival
  • Full attention and participation (video is required)
  • Committed to full, 100% attendance and participation during class time

Attendees must fully participate in both two days of class. If you anticipate that you may need to miss class time, please contact us in advance to discuss your situation and determine if rescheduling the class is the best option.
