About Our Virtual CSPO Workshop

To keep you safe and healthy during the COVID-19 global pandemic, we've adapted our in-person workshop so we can bring it to you virtually instead. We've carefully converted our classroom activities while maintaining their interactive nature to keep the class engaging and combat the Zoom fatigue we're all becoming familiar with. Here's what you can expect from our online classes:

Real-time, instructor led workshops. This is not a video of an instructor delivering a lecture to a camera. All classes occur in real time, at the right pace for the students in the class, responding to your questions and what is happening in the group.

Interactive student collaboration. Technology has developed to the extent that we can get great interactive collaboration between classmates in our digital "classroom". Two of the main tools we use are Zoom, with breakout sessions, and Miro, a real time digital white board.

Redesigned virtual activities. All our classroom activities have been re-worked to fit a virtual format while continuing to make the information "sticky" through collaborative exercises related to the material you are learning. Using Zoom breakout rooms, you'll leverage the learning of other class members as well as class facilitators.

Using Scrum to teach Scrum. Even in our virtual format, we continue to use Scrum to teach Scrum with two facilitators that model the roles of Product Owner and Scrum Master. The class activities build upon each other both in the knowledge of the material and the execution of our practicum where students build an actual product using Scrum.

Setting you up for success. When you sign up for an Applied Scrum class, you'll receive a welcome email in advance of your workshop. You welcome email will contain links to videos for class pre-work to help ensure an understanding of the fundamental concepts, as well as a Miro board link so you can get familiar with collaborating via digital technology.

Tamara's Tips and Techniques. A well-loved and valuable staple from our in-person classes, Tamara's Tips and Techniques provides information and practices that are gleaned from my real life experiences with Agile and Scrum over the last 15+ years as a practitioner, coach, and trainer.

Applied Scrum Coaching HuddleAs an Applied Scrum alumni, you'll be invited to our Scrum Huddle, a monthly informal gathering over Zoom. The Huddle provides an opportunity to receive expert advice, peer support, networking, and more. Not to mention, the ability to earn SEUs and/or PDUs for every Huddle you attend.

Fun!  Fast-paced!  Interactive!  Learn by doing!  Use Scrum to learn Scrum in Applied Scrum's unique CSPO class spanning 3 half days!

Learn Real Skills, Not Just Theory

With a focus on Scrum’s unique Product Owner role, Applied Scrum's 2-day class covers the terminology, practices, and principles that students will need to successfully fulfill the role of Product Owner on a Scrum team, while providing the internationally-recognized CSPO certification. Through hands-on simulation and immersion exercises, students will learn to prioritize and maintain the product backlog, as well as the nuances of working and communicating with a Scrum team.

An important component of our course is incorporating the wide-ranging knowledge and experience of you and your classmates. Our aim is to make Scrum applicable to your day-to-day, instead of simply teaching you the vocabulary necessary to pass the exam. So expect a healthy amount of peer-to-peer conversation where you can make those connections!

You'll Get...

  • Hands-on instruction by an experienced Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), fully accredited by the Scrum Alliance.

  • A perpetual invitation to join our monthly Applied Scrum Caoching Huddle where you can connect with your peers, seek professional advice from your Scrum Trainer, and more.

  • Experience Scrum in action -- Our instructors use Scrum to teach Scrum, which means you'll experience what it means to be a member of a Scrum team in real time.

  • Robust group discussion to explore what Scrum means for you and what it will mean to be a member of a Scrum team in your organization.

  • Learn the activities and responsibilities of the various Scrum roles: Team Member, Product Owner, ScrumMaster, and Stakeholder.
