Evolving into Scrum Master role and finding my True-North :
My career started in June 2004 as a Software Developer.Within a few months i made myself get completely tuned in with development churning out many lines of code in Java and stretching myself to all limits to meet the project deadlines.
While my expertise in Java greatly improved and i got deeper into development .. I worked every bit harder and got into the complete grind of a typical coder. As i was making myself attuned , i always felt that the "how" part of development was not right somewhere.
The Management wasn't willing to trust the employees and the employees felt they were not being valued enough as the most important resource making the software delivery happen.
My passion for java development kept me going , completing projects and earning appreciation - while i knew deep inside there was something more needed to make me go the extra mile.
Then in 2008 when in Nokia Siemens i suddenly found myself in the role of Scrum Master.
Workshops led by Craig Larman and CSM training under Bas Vodde instilled a faith in me that there was an answer to the "how" part i was searching for.
Through the course of a few sessions with them i understood the benefits of Agile and i had a feeling of deja vu - This is what we really want!!!.This is what will keep both the employees and the management happy !!
Happy and content employees = Higher profit = Higher retention.
I completely immersed myself into learning more and more about this new way of working .
While leading a team of 8 people as a servent leader i felt a new zeal of enthusiasm flowing in the team - where the team members felt they were being heard and thus being valued.
Like any human resisting change , i found many difficult situations on my way - however i could also see that the benefits started to show up as well.
Retrospectives were a huge amount of fun and learning all the time and I ensured that every retro was special.
Today I am a very passionate Scrum Servant Leader(Team Manager) with a zeal for adding value.
I am looking forward to share my learnings and at the same time continue being the servant leader , with / without a title :-)
Striving to Be The Change I want to See in the Software World :-)
