Applied these skills in varied types of organizations, including: a product company, a professional services organization, and internal IT companies. Previously I was a traditional (PMP) project manager. Following a dozen years of practicing the traditional (PMBOK) approach, I became disallusioned and started looking for something new. The more I read about Agile, the more convinced I became that "defined process approaches" were bound to fail -- on complex projects -- and that "empirical process approach" was far more likely to succeed. Early on, in my recovery from traditional project management, I was fortunate enough to train with Alistair Cockburn, Ken Schwaber, and Mike Cohn. Their inspiration fueled my commitment. Nine years into my recovery I can say with certainty that I will never return to practicing traditional project management. Scrum On!
