About

Brad Phelps

Experience in many levels of software architecture and technical leadership resulting in successful project deliveries with a diverse set of languages and platforms. I am fascinated by new technologies and challenges. Interests include: software architecture, software collaboration, human factors, process improvement and multimedia.

Specialties: Software architecture, object oriented design, software modeling, software reuse, human factors, collaboration, integration, and agile principals.

I have held the following scrum roles:

Dev Team

2000-2007 Firstlogic
First read XP Explained (Beck), and participated as a member of a team adopting XP concepts.

2007-2010 - SMTT
Participated in standup, and investigated tooling to help track our work/progress.

Scrum Master

2010-2012 - GBS Tool Team
At this time, I was using pieces of Scrum and pieces of other Agile frameworks I had encountered previously, but we were attempting to plan our iterations based on capacity, practiced morning stand-ups, and practiced iteration retros.  We were far from a well-oiled scrum team, but this was the first exposure I had to officially practicing Scrum.  There were times when we abandoned the process - since we recongized that we weren't always following-through, but we continued to push, learn and get better.

2014-2015 - Inbox Team
While in this role, I began to coach others on Scrum concepts - both internally to my team, and externally.   Teams observed our practices (including planning and demos) to see how Scrum was helping us.

2017-Present - Mosaic Team
I am helping to establish a new architecture team, and we are using Scrum to manage our commitments.

Product Owner

2015-Present - DSS
Since joining DSS, I have been repsonsible for maintaining a backlog of technical improvements that can be made in our solution delivery, and to help prioritize work across our several scrum teams.
