About
My personal life:
My hobbies include snowboarding (sometimes skiing), wakeboarding (sometimes slalom skiing and barefoot skiing), downhill mountain bike racing, road bike (bike to work), motorcycles and music (playing in both original and cover bands - www.autumnskyburning.com) - I'm currently persuing a masters certificate in music at the Berklee School of Music (expected 2014).
He is most passionate about snowboarding & music. Those two seem to always take precedence over other hobbies.
My current significant project is modernization and consolidation of all Licensing systems (from form automation to engineering analysis to automated decisioning). There are currently seven bureaus at the FCC that utilize separate licensing systems and processes. Many of these processes are still manual.
Additionally - I have 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls (the youngest being 16) and a wonderful wife, Lora.
I've started three companies, including a boat dealership selling Chris-Craft and MB Sports boats in Richmond, VA. I'm an Eagle Scout and received my undergrad from RIT's College of Engineering.
With respect to my professional life:
I'm a seasoned Fortune 500 and Federal consultant helping firms identify issues, devise value-added solution, then deliver those solutions though completion on budget and schedule.
Since 2001, I have helped ensure the success of critical initiatives from the FCC's 2012 US election political file system to acquisitions like FINRA/NYSE, Harrah's/Caesars, Dominion Power/CNG.
I'm an MBA candidate (expected May 2012) with an Engineering degree, have founded and built companies, spoken at national conferences, contributed to award-wining projects, and have taught hundreds of IT professionals technological and organizational techniques for success.
I make IT organizations more efficient and responsive to their firm though a direct three-phased approach:
- Organizational transformation to an agile/lean orientation utilizing SCRUM
- Leveraging existing IT assets increasing delivery speed and mitigating costs
- Using modern integration techniques that allow for quick delivery, openness and transparency, reduced costs, and elimination of system obsolescence.
I have started and built three companies. However, my major accomplishments were shown through:
- Speaking at the Java One national conference
- Saving Dominion Power $9 million by creating a legacy system transformational process to save existing assets. This eliminated a need to replace those assets.
- Designing and assisting to lead the FINRA/NYSE project which won mention in the 2009 CIO Magazine’s SOA Implementation of the Year for financial regulation.
- Successful system integration for three mergers: FINRA/NYSE, Harrah’s/Caesars Palace, and Dominion Power/Consolidated Natural Gas.
- Saving tax dollars by consolidation of redundant FCC systems.
- Helping ensure fair & transparent US elections with the implementation of the FCC’s political public file system.
Due to my unique business and technology expertise I have successfully solved the essence from complex problems, devised value-added solutions for them, and guided solutions to the last mile in a timely, effective, and cost-efficient manner.
