J. Douglas (Doug) Batchelor
Doug Batchelor gained his initial Agile experience on Agile and Scrum teams while working as a developer and project lead. This provided the opportunity to learn and use Windows and Object Oriented technologies including working in environments using Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development and Pair Programming. These formative experiences gave him a deep understanding and appreciation for the benefits that can be achieved using Agile practices.
Doug currently trains and coaches clients in adopting Agile and Scrum and scaling their organization using the Scaled Agile framework, SAFe. His previous role as a software developer using Agile has given him a practical perspective that he brings to the classroom and coaching environments. His enthusiasm and strong belief in promoting the Agile way are evident in his teaching and coaching.
Over the last four years, Doug has taught classes and coached teams in a lot of locations around the U.S. and a number of different industries (large and small) including, telecommunications, electric power, retail, computer manufacturing and financial services.
Doug is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Program Consultant (SPC). He is a licensed pilot with multi-engine and instrument ratings and served as a Fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He has a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy and and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas Arlington.
